Civil Service Board

Background: This commission establishes a merit system of employment for county deputy sheriffs and other employees of the office of SJC Sheriff, thereby raising the standards and efficiency of such offices and law enforcement in general. The commission conducts investigations to ascertain whether the Civil Service Act is being followed, and hears and determines written appeals or complaints. Guiding document is RCW 41.14.
